Lately,  Yun and Cece check in with each other by asking ” Do you have chicken soup?’  since we are both are little under the weather…

Off course, Yun’s chicken soup must have some dumplings in it and Cece must have the noodles in it.  It occurs to Cece that chicken soup, as a cure for the cold, must cross all cultures.  We know now that it crosses Chinese, Italian , Vietnamese, and Jewish culture. The Two Whos being silly at heart, think “Why does the Chicken Cross the Road?”

At 6 am Cece is laughing hysterically at this question thinking of a chicken  walking to China, Israel, Vietnam  and then to Italy!  Does it walk, hitch hike, take a plane or bus…how does it cross the road?    She is thinking of a cartoon and then wonders if  The Far Side has already contemplated this or if she should just draw a cartoon?

The Two Whos are cooking up a new brand of  chicken soup, for the mind,  soul and for the body, across cultures and across languages….

Cece gets technical:She found out that since prehistoric times, chicken soup was made in Asia, Polynesia, Africa and Europe.  Boiling the parts of chickens extracted nutritional components that would otherwise be lost.  The broth was considered restorative in the ancient world.   Chicken soup was considered healthy in the Mediterranean, Western Europe, England, and the Muslim world.  In Jewish cooking, chicken soup was called  the “Jewish Penicillin.”

Yun gets philosophical:“The healing essence of the chicken soup is chicken soup, duh!  Noodles or dumplings… just to enhance the presentation.  It does not matter what the  mixture is … as long as there is the chicken soup….all is well. In human heart, Chicken soup’s equivalent is the love.  Love is expressed in different ways…as long as there is the love…all is well!” Cece’s imagination is going wild: “ What if the chicken soup that seems to cross all cultures… were the love that crosses all differences and eases the pain of hate….could we then end war?  Could the chicken end up crossing the road to make peace?”

So the two whos dance until dizzy with the chicken soup… dumplings and noodles….and have a great good laugh and a few tears.  Now seriously,  there is nothing technical nor philosophical about the children soup, nor about love.   If you want to feel better, drink your chicken soup and love what is and who is!  Just that simple!
